Support seniors who are attending the Tōtara day program, assisting with activities, and serving lunch and refreshments. The Tōtara day program runs from 10am to 3pm every weekday, with up to 16 people attending.
Enliven’s Tōtara Club provides a day activity programmes for older people who find themselves becoming socially isolated. Tōtara Club provides opportunities for people to maintain interests and skills, meet others, and share activities and experiences in the community.
Volunteers are also needed to assist with transporting clients in the Tōtara van (the van run is 9:30am - 10:30 and/or 3 - 4pm)
While we ideally would like volunteers to commit to a regular day and time, there are no set hours involved in volunteering for Enliven. We appreciate any time you are able to give to our clients whether it's an hour per month or several hours a day/week. We will invite you to come for a chat and at this time we can discuss what would best suit you.

What we're looking for:

  • An interest and empathy with older people
  • An ability to relate to older people
  • Patience to understand individual needs
  • The ability to support the members with activities that provide intellectual stimulation, exercises and fun activities
  • Good communication skills and the ability to make conversation
  • A pleasant, respectful and caring manner.

We are also looking for volunteers to assist the local HomeShare host with our Day Programme for Older Persons on Wednesdays 10am-3pm. The Enliven HomeShare service brings older people with shared interests together in the comfort of a host’s private home or suitable community facility.

Requirements:

Empathy for the elderly, patience, good listening skills, sense of humour.
Volunteers should be aged 16 or older.
Volunteer drivers must have a full, clean drivers licence if they wish to assist with transporting seniors.

✅ Volunteers will need to be fully vaccinated against Covid-19 for this role.

A Police background check is required for this role.
