You will be working with parents and their infants or pre-school aged children that may need a bit of extra support in the home. The goal is to help them build self confidence, provide companionship, teach life skills that are of practical value in the home, support them with short term basic tasks and help them make the most of resources available to them in the community.
Our ideal volunteers are practical, open minded, empathetic, have good communication skills, a sense of humor and able to maintain confidentiality at all times. Preferably you have experience in raising children and running a household. Depending on your own experience you may have a range of helpful skills that may include parenting routines, time management, coping with stress, menu planning, budgeting, housekeeping and more.
An initial recruitment process and training followed by 1-2 hours per week for three months.
