Companionship Volunteer

At the heart of this role is really the ability to communicate and to be a 'people person' and enjoy time in the company of others. As well as sharing the reading material via the library trolley, this role is focused on sharing other information about what is happening in their local community. Perhaps promoting what services are out there that patients can get involved in after leaving hospital care e.g. lunch clubs or exercise and fitness groups or talking about what is happening in the local community via the news. It's the ability to share and really make a patient's day by giving them some time to connect.

The role will support some patients further by playing a game of cards, sitting and doing a crossword or wordsearch - really connecting with patients that require more time or those who have not had a visitor. We are looking for a team leader for this role as well, so if you have leadership experience this would be an advantage.
