Are you looking for something you can do from home?
The Marlborough-Nelson Marine Radio Association currently has seven dedicated volunteer marine VHF radio operators, and they're looking for two more. Could this be you?
The Association's radio operators take turns monitoring the radio channels, providing a valuable service to boaties in the Nelson/Marlborough area. Operators read weather forecasts and other safety information, record vessel’s trip and position reports, and can connect boaties to assistance they may require.
This is a home-based volunteer position. Volunteers who live in Picton or Blenheim would be best suited to this role as good radio reception is required. The channels are monitored from 0700 - 2200 daily and you can tell us your preference of when you would be available: early, late, or all day! And you can choose how frequently you volunteer but ideally a couple of half days per week would be good. But if you are keen, and available, then let's talk!
The Association provides ALL the radio and other equipment required, plus full training and backup!
Volunteers of ALL AGES are welcome to get in touch.
If you live in Marlborough, and would enjoy helping our local Marlborough-Nelson boating community to keep safe, apply now by filling in the form below.
