Marlborough RDA was established in 1972 to assist people within the Marlborough region living with a challenges; physically, emotionally or intellectually by providing therapeutic interaction with horses to develop increased ability, independence and self-esteem.
On average we have 60 riders per school term.
Marlborough Riding for the Disabled are URGENTLY looking for volunteers to assist with our horse care and rider programmes. Although horse experience is beneficial, it is not necessary.
Horse care duties may include: grooming, assisting riders to tack up/untack, turning horses out into their paddocks, feeding hay and everything else in between!
Our volunteers who help our riders in their lessons either side walk (assisting the rider) or lead the horses. Full training is given.
We do a lot of walking and a bit of trotting during our RDA sessions, so volunteers do require a reasonable level of fitness to safely fulfil this role.
If you have time available that you can regularly commit each week to helping out our amazing local community then please get in touch!
Hours we need help are:
Morning Session: 9am-12pm Monday, Tuesdays,Thursdays and Friday
Afternoon Session: 12:30pm-3:30pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
However we are flexible if you cannot commit to the full session.
If you can only work weekends we also have a feedout/manure collection roster - but must have horse experience.
The first step is to express your interest by filling out the form below. We will then put you in touch directly with the organisation for more information on the role and how to proceed.
