The Core Purpose of NZRDA is to provide interaction with horses to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for people experiencing disability, or who have specific challenges or needs. We aim to enable and support them to achieve good lives including meaningful participation in, and contribution to, important life activities and roles in their community.
Our qualified coaches and horse trainers lead our programmes however we depend upon our volunteers to assist us.
Marlborough Riding for the Disabled are URGENTLY looking for volunteers to assist with our horse care and rider programmes. Although horse experience is beneficial, it is not necessary and training will be provided
Horse care duties may include: grooming, assisting riders to tack up/untack, turning horses out into their paddocks, feeding hay and everything else in between!
Our volunteers help our riders in their lessons either side walking (assisting the rider) or leading the horses. Full training is given.
We do a lot of walking and a bit of trotting during our RDA sessions, so volunteers do require a reasonable level of fitness to safely fulfil this role.
If you have time available that you can regularly commit each week to helping out our amazing local community then please get in touch!
Hours we need help are:
Morning Session: 9am-12pm Monday, Tuesdays,Thursdays and Friday
Afternoon Session: 12:30pm-3:30pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday
However we are flexible if you cannot commit to the full session.
If you can only work weekends we also have a feedout/manure collection roster - but must have horse experience.
