Leading, Side-walking and horse care

Marlborough RDA was established in 1972 to assist people within the Marlborough region living with a challenges; physically, emotionally or intellectually by providing therapeutic interaction with horses to develop increased ability, independence and self-esteem.
On average we have 60 riders per school term. Although we have qualified coaches we depend upon volunteers to help support our lessons.

Requirements:

Marlborough Riding for the Disabled are URGENTLY looking for volunteers to assist with our horse care and rider programmes. Although horse experience is beneficial, it is not necessary and training will be provided

Horse care duties may include: grooming, assisting riders to tack up/untack, turning horses out into their paddocks, feeding hay and everything else in between!

Our volunteers who help our riders in their lessons either side walking (assisting the rider) or leading the horses. Full training is given.

We do a lot of walking and a bit of trotting during our RDA sessions, so volunteers do require a reasonable level of fitness to safely fulfil this role.
If you have time available that you can regularly commit each week to helping out our amazing local community then please get in touch!
