John's Kitchen (part of Crossroads) runs a Koha Cafe and kitchen for members of the community, serving soups and cabinet food every day at lunchtime
Cafe servers are the public face of our organization, helping to make our patrons' day a pleasant one. We have a great team of volunteers at Crossroads who are fun and friendly to work with.
Ideal volunteer: mature and open-minded outlook on life, enjoys hospitality work, friendly nature, respectful, empathetic, and happy to interact with customers.
Experience in the hospitality industry would be great, but willingness and enthusiasm to serve others is all that we hope for.
We are also looking at opening up on Saturday's again, so inviting all expressions of interest for this too so ensure we have enough volunteers to operate.
Good hygiene practices, able to be on your feet for the duration of your shift (3hrs), give great service, be hearty, happy and humble. Able to do some basic cleaning tasks: e.g. wiping down tables and surfaces, sweeping/mopping floors.
Shifts are 8 am - 11 am OR 11 am - 2 pm Monday to Friday. Wednesday evening meals too so there is the option if that time suits better. YOU CHOOSE how frequently.
