Alzheimers Marlborough runs a day programme at the Centre on Wither Road and a lovely team of volunteers assist with this program. Volunteers help with indoor activities, accompany clients on a walk through the beautiful gardens, or sit and have a chat with clients.
If you're a person that enjoys having a chat, joining in on some fun, and putting a smile on another's face, then this will be a great role for you!
You don't need to know a lot about dementia/Alzheimers; the staff and other volunteers can help you learn. However, you will need a pleasant manner, patience, a sense of humour, empathy, and you will need to be dependable.
Morning volunteers are provided with a meal at lunchtime.
Volunteers need a pleasant manner, patience, dependability, sense of humour and an empathy with people.
Volunteers of all ages are welcome to apply. As our clients have dementia/alzheimers and often also hearing impairment, your spoken English must be able to be clearly understood.
Minimum time commitment: One shift (four hours) per fortnight.
Weekdays only.
