The Blue Door is one of Marlborough's oldest charity organisations dedicated to fostering recycling and supporting the community through grants programs. What sets us apart from other charity shops is our major point of difference - every dollar of profit generated by The Blue Door goes back to local not-for-profit Marlborough community organisations in need of extra funding. Our store is managed by permanent staff and manned by a very willing band of volunteers who are the backbone of the organisation. The volunteer roles include, but not limited to: Stocking and tidying shelves - working on the store counter - sorting goods on arrival - stripping back small electrical appliances that do not work and testing those that do - picking up and dropping of larger items - researching items of a collectible nature - general handy person. Whether you can offer half a day or a full day a week or even a month, all contributions by volunteers are gratefully received. It might be that you have a particular skill base that can be used once a year, for example painting a wall or providing plumbing services or a sewing project. It is all about Locals Supporting Locals, including volunteering and donations from the community, in order for The Blue Door to keep giving back to the Locals. Contact us to arrange a time to see the 'new look' layout store and to meet the team. And see if The Blue Door is a place to volunteer for you. Website: thebluedoor.nz
