Volunteer drivers take people from Picton (or nearby) to Nelson and back for medical appointments.
Volunteers will need to be available for most of a day as they will wait in Nelson for the patient.
The Marlborough Community Vehicle Trust runs an ‘on demand’ service taking passengers to and from medical appointments in Nelson. The service picks up from Blenheim, Renwick, Picton and anywhere along Queen Charlotte Drive and State Highway 6. We are particularly looking for Picton-based drivers at the moment as there are enough drivers in other locations. People interested in this role who live outside of Picton would need to consider operating as a Picton-based driver, or going on a waiting list.
This would be an ideal role for someone who has friends and family in Nelson as you will have a chance to catch up with them while waiting for patients appointments to finish.
Volunteers will need a full and clean driver's license. Volunteers will also need to provide a doctor's certificate stating reasonable health, and undergo a criminal record check.
