Volunteer Marlborough is currently looking for new governance board members to round out our team and help us achieve our goal of supporting volunteering in the community.
Anyone aged 18 or over is welcome to apply. However, Volunteer Marlborough would like to see greater diversity on our board so if you have experience in a sport setting, working with youth or seniors, working in a health setting, or legal experience we would love to hear from you. Ideally you will be well networked, have knowledge of community and voluntary sector or community development.
Meetings are generally held on the 4th Wednesday of every second month at 7:30am, with very occasional sub-committee meetings depending on areas of skill or interest. Meetings are approximately 1.5 hours monthly with some additional meeting and events periodically. You will need to be able to attend regular Board meetings and ensure you have read all papers beforehand.
We are a dynamic organisation that is in a strong position in the community and has shown substantial growth over recent years.
Applicants should prepare a CV. A criminal record check will also be required.

In relation to non-profit organisations, boards or committees exist to ensure the organisation is well run, looking at the big picture. Boards set the strategic direction of an organisation, and ensures the organisation is achieving its social mission. Governance of non-profit organisations is all about providing strategic leadership, while focusing on the processes for making and implementing decisions that will continue to advance an organization’s principles and mission.
Previous governance experience is useful, but not a requirement
