Marlborough District Brass Band
Marlborough District Brass Band is Marlborough’s premier musical organisation based in Blenheim, and is involved in provision of music at Marlborough civic functions and special events. Music is promoted through youth and adult teaching as well as regular concerts in ASB Theatre Marlborough and other venues in Blenheim, Picton, Seddon and Havelock. We operate two bands, the main band (Marlborough District Brass) and our junior / learners band named First Class Brass from our own band rooms at 21 Auckland Street, Blenheim where each band has their own rehearsal space. Rehearsal nights for the main band are Monday and Thursday weekly from 7:30pm until 9:30pm. First Class Brass rehearses on Monday nights from 6:00pm until 7:15pm. The band is a regular competitor at the New Zealand National Brass Band Championships, and performs at least two major concerts in the ASB Theatre Marlborough annually as well as regular performances at Marlborough 4 Fun's Summer Concert series, Marlborough Wine & Food Festival, ANZAC, Garden Marlborough, the biennial Omaka Air Show, Mistletoe Market, and the Chistmas Parade. In addition the Band still manages to play Christmas carols in suburban Blenheim most nights in December.
