Corrections is one of the largest government departments in New Zealand, employing around 10,000 staff, the majority of whom work with offenders in one of our 18 prisons or 151 Community Corrections sites across New Zealand. Every day Corrections works with a variety of groups and agencies to protect the public and ensure that offenders receive the help they need to turn their lives around. Our 2,000 registered volunteers are invaluable in our work to reduce re-offending. Our vision: Creating lasting change by breaking the cycle of re-offending. Our goal: Keeping our communities safe and changing lives. One goal »» four priorities »» 16 action areas
