They say that if you can be anything in this world that you should be kind ... and young Lawson Flowerday is a wonderful example of this.
After hearing about the devastation wrought by Cyclone Gabrielle across parts of the country, Lawson wanted to do something to help. After some thinking, some talks with mum Brianna and dad Kurt, and even suggesting they sell their home to help, Lawson decided that a community sausage sizzle was the way to go and so the planning began.
With help from mum and dad, aunties and uncles, grandparents, and local businesses, Lawson was able to get his sausage sizzle up and running....and what a hit! A steady flow of people throughout the day kept Lawson and his team on their toes, cooking up lots of sausages and onions for all the hungry supporters.
At the end of the day, this plucky wee 8 year old had raised $2061.30 to Cyclone Gabrielle Relief!
Sometimes the biggest things can come from the smallest places....thank you, Lawson for your hard work and giant heart!
