International Volunteer Day 2024

5 December 2024 | News

International Volunteer Day is an opportunity to celebrate and acknowledge the incredible contributions volunteers make around the world and, more specifically, here in Marlborough. Volunteers are the heartbeat of our region, bringing energy, passion, and dedication to causes that make a real difference in people's lives.

From environmental conservation to supporting those in need, Marlborough's volunteering ecosystem thrives because of the diverse skills and generosity of our people. It's a network built on care and connection, and its impact is felt in every corner of our community.

At Volunteer Marlborough, we are privileged to work with these everyday heroes and the organisations they support. This year, we've embraced a new remote working model that has allowed us to be more present in the community. Instead of being tied to an office, we are now able to meet people where they need us most -- whether that's in town, at schools, at events, or collaborating directly with organisations.

This shift has strengthened our ability to engage with volunteers and organisations on a deeper level, and will ensure we remain responsive to Marlborough's needs. It's a testament to how flexible, community-driven approaches can drive meaningful change.

For International Volunteer Day 2024, we encourage everyone to take a moment to thank a volunteer, reflect on how their efforts enrich our community, and consider how you might get involved. Together we can continue to grow Marlborough's spirit of generosity and connection.

If you want to chat about how you can get involved, or if you're an organisation needing volunteers, resources, or support, the Volunteer Marlborough team can be contacted by phone at 03-577-9388 or by email at vm@volunteermarlborough.org.nz
