Volunteer Marlborough wants to help strengthen leadership of community and not-for-profit organisations in the Marlborough region. To do this, we are teaming up with the very knowledgeable facilitators from LEAD Centre for Not-for-Profit Governance & Leadership to bring back the Governance Bytes series of workshops for those on boards or those who might wish to move in to governance roles.

Governance Bytes are a series of online workshops delivered via Zoom where we take a deep dive into topics relevant for those who are on a board or wish to be on a board of a community or not-for-profit organisation. On these live, online workshops you will learn with and from others on boards, ask relevant questions, and apply what you are learning in the real world of your not-for-profit organisation.

These workshops will encourage networking amongst boards in the region. Participants will walk away with:

  • a clear understanding of the difference between governance and management
  • clarity about the roles and tasks of the board / committee
  • a clear understanding of their legal obligations both individually and collectively
  • an increased ability to think and act strategically as leaders within the organisation
  • practical tools and tips to streamline meetings, events, and board processes
  • an ability to attract and retain the right people on the board, deal with board dynamics, and create inclusive cultures within the board room

We are very excited to bring this series of workshops back to the Marlborough region (and beyond!). Registration links will go live in January 2023 so keep an eye on our EVENTS PAGE!
