Governance Bytes are a series of workshops where we take a deep dive into topics relevant for those who are on a board or wish to be on a board of a community or not-for-profit organisation. On these live, online workshops with not-for-profit governance experts from LEAD: Centre for Not-for-Profit Governance & Leadership, you will learn with and from others on boards, ask relevant questions, and apply what you are learning in the real world of your not-for-profit organisation.
This month we present the fifth in our series of Governance Bytes: Toeing the Line - Knowing your legal obligations
Community and not-for-profit organisations must operate within the law and there are specific laws around governance that all new board members should be aware of. In this session, we will look at the compliance requirements and obligations of individuals and boards, legal structures, and ways of managing conflicts of interest, to ensure you and your organisation stay on the right side of the law.
