Share your computer skills in person with individuals in the community!

  • Empower them to use their laptops, smartphones, notebooks, etc. to master basic functions (e.g. setting up email & sending messages, using zoom, putting contacts into phones, troubleshooting, installing and using simple apps, surfing the web, watching TV online, etc.)
  • Troubleshooting basic computer issues
  • Help with specific needs - this may require you to do some basic research online to help guide the client through the process
Requirements:
  • Excellent communication skills

  • Confidence in using IT in every day life

  • Learner focused - able to create a safe, comfortable, learning environment with the client; able to go at the pace needed by the client; clarify and understand client needs; able to let client 'have a go' enough times until they are confident'; able to refer client to other sources of help as needed

  • Willingness to meet clients in public areas (e.g. cafe or library or REAP Marlborough office)
    NOTE: Please indicate if you would be willing to meet clients in their homes if they have mobility issues or use non-portable devices such as TVs or desktop computers (special health and safety conditions will apply)

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

As needed. You will be matched with clients needing various types of help.

30minute to 1 hour blocks at times convenient for both parties
