Kaipupu Point Wildlife Sanctuary Treasurer Role

The role of the Kaipupu Point Treasurer is to support the Chair in ensuring the smooth functioning of the Management Committee. The Treasurer’s tasks include:

Managing Banking mandates and devices
Providing Monthly accounts to the committee
GST returns
Processing bank payments as required
Coding of transactions in Xero
Assisting co-ordinators with grant accountability
Ensuring required financial records are kept
Producing Year end annual accounts incl. Fixed Assets
Annual Charities Commission reporting
Attending and reporting to monthly committee meetings

Requirements:

Qualities and Skills required
Accounting skills
Knowledge of XERO
Organisational ability
Experience of committee work and procedures
Good communication and interpersonal skills
Impartiality, fairness and the ability to respect confidences
Well organised and an eye for detail
Ability to work well with the Chair, staff and committee members.

All committee members (staff and volunteers) who wish to attend the meeting in-person must be fully vaccinated. Other members must attend via Zoom.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

The time commitment for this role would on average be 6-8 hours per month, including meeting preparation and meeting attendance. Commitment would increase slightly at the end of the financial year and leading up to the AGM.
