St John Youth Divisional Aide

Divisional Aides work within St John Youth Divisions, assisting the Divisional Manager and Divisional Leadership Team as required.

Members in this role primarily fill a supervisory role, assisting in maintaining the required Adult / Cadet ratios as per the St John Youth Child Protection Policy (CPP).

Divisional Aides are not required to teach cadets, unless the subject matter is of interest, and the DA would like to assist in teaching, and is approved by the Divisional Manager.

Divisional Aides may be requested to supervise groups at any age level within a Division, with an age range of 6-18 years of age, so experience working with youth, empathy and patience are qualities we seek for this role.

Many Divisional Aides are parents of cadets, or are adults with an interest in youth, do not have the time commitment available to regularly attend, but have the availability to assist on alternate weeks, or boost the adult / cadet ratios for other events and activities that take place outside of the normal division environment, eg camps or water based activities.

Requirements:

You do not need a first aid certificate but if you would like to gain one, St John can help with that.

Volunteers need to be 18+ for this role.

Volunteers will need to undergo a police check and provide references, and then (if you decide this is the role for you) accept and sign a Divisional Aide Agreement, and be approved by the District Youth Manager.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

2 hours per week, or as available.
If you're available to help with other occasional activities, there will be a few opportunities to give extra time if you're keen (this will always be discussed in advance).
