Korowai Aroha Programme Mentor

The purpose of the position is to provide free, practical life skills, support and mentoring to whanāu in their home on a one-to-one basis.

The goal is to build self-confidence by sharing practical knowledge that will enable whanau to learn new skills and make the most of the finances and resources available to them.

We especially need people with experience and skills in:
Raising Tamariki
Running a Household
Cooking and Baking
Growing your own kai
Basic Budgeting
Sewing or other crafts.

Our Ideal Volunteers are:
Empathetic and non-judgemental
Patient with good communication skills
Enjoy working with whanau
Have a good sense of humour.

Te Korowai Aroha mentors will be required to complete an application form, undertake a Police Check and attend in a training day.

A Police background check is required for this role.

Time commitment:

Weekdays only; no evenings
Medium- to long-term commitment
