Literacy coach

This position is a bit like being a virtual tutor. Literacy coaches help people from all around New Zealand to practice their course-work via video conference (Skype) and email.

We have found that, without someone to help them, the learners intend to practice - but do not. As a literacy coach, you will encourage a learner, help them practice the 3-5 spelling words they are learning for the week, and work with them on their reading and writing. You will also conference with your learner to put together an individualized plan for their learning.

Literacy coaching is all about working together to develop goals, and select materials and activities to help them reach those goals.

This is a role that can be done from home or anywhere you have internet access!
Literacy coaching is a very important service! You can change a learner's life... and that of their family!

Full training and support will be given.

If you are interested in becoming a literacy coach with RYALT, you will need to be fluent in English, be confident with use of Skype, email, and other basic computer programs, strong reading and writing abilities, and a friendly personality. You MUST also have access to a computer and internet.

A Police background check is required for this role.
