Governance Bytes 10 - Cheering on the Chairs

Governance Bytes are a series of workshops where we take a deep dive into topics relevant for those who are on a board or wish to be on a board of a community or not-for-profit organisation. On these live, online workshops with not-for-profit governance experts from LEAD: Centre for Not-for-Profit Governance & Leadership, you will learn with and from others on boards, ask relevant questions, and apply what you are learning in the real world of your not-for-profit organisation.

This month we present our tenth and final session in our series of Governance Bytes: Cheering on the Chairs

Being the Chair of a not-for-profit or community organisation can be a deeply rewarding, but also challenging role. The teams at Volunteer Marlborough and at LEAD are dedicated to helping support you in your role by offering you the tools, tips, and tactics you need to lead from the front and develop a framework for making a difference to the community you have chosen to serve. In this workshop, we'll focus on the role of the Chair, including processes for building better board engagement:

  • Tools, tips, and tactics for not-for-profit board chairs
  • Chair's primer - the role of the chair
  • Board leadership - a framework for making a difference
  • Tools for chairing
  • Processes for building board engagement

This workshop will take place via Zoom (link will be sent out closer to the event). Enrolled participants may substitute another member of their organisation if they can't attend.

This month's workshop will be facilitated by Sandy Thompson.
