JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE:                 CHAIRPERSON OF THE BOARD OF TRUSTEES

 

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

 

The Board of Trustees bears corporate authority and responsibility for the _________ (organisation) and the Chairperson will be expected to provide the leadership which will enable the Board of Trustees and the centre to meet the organisation’s aims and objectives.

This document is to be read in conjunction with the Board of Trustees Job Description.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Guiding the Board of Trustees in carrying out all its functions.
  1. Providing leadership for the Board of Trustees and the staff.
  1. Guiding the Centre’s development as set out by the Board of Trustees.
  1. Working with and supporting the Centre Manager.
  1. Ensuring the provisions of the Trust Deed and the rules and regulations of the Board are complied with and the Board decisions are duly actioned.

RESULTS REQUIRED

The Board of Trustees and the Centre is harmonious, soundly based, efficient and effective.

KEY TASK:

  1. Ensuring that the tasks and function of the Board of Trustees are carried out.
  1. Liasing with the Centre Manager in the calling of Board of Trustees meetings and in the preparation of agendas and other Board of Trustees records.
  1. Presiding at meetings of the Board of Trustees, ensuring appropriate meeting procedure is followed.
  1. Responsible for representing _____(organisation) in the community and promoting its aims and ideals.
  1. Establishing and maintaining harmonious relationships with Board of Trustees and the Centre Manager and encouraging effective communication between all sectors of the organisation and the community.
  1. Consulting with the Centre Manager on all matters relating to _________ (organisation).
  1. Ensuring the Board of Trustees maintains its emphasis on policy matters and that the authority delegated to any standing committees or staff is properly observed.
  1. Act as spokesperson for __________(organisation).

RESOURCES:

  1. The Board of Trustees and the Centre Manager are available for advice and

             assistance.    

  1. Access to management and administrative details must be through the Centre Manager at a suitably convenient time.
  1. The Centre will provide administrative support.

TIME COMMITMENT:

                   Approximately 8 - 12 hours per month, of which two (2) hours will be 

                   required for ___________ (organisation) Board of Trustees meetings.
